He continued in first class cricket for more than another decade, playing his last match of 56 first class matches in 1895-96, in which he scored 1,755 runs at an average of 20.17, with 4 centuries and 5 half centuries and a top score of 150. He also took 1 wicket in first class cricket with his occasional bowling, returning 1-17 on the day, and held 31 catches in first class play. He died at sea off Mumbai aged 62 in June 1922.
