Peckham, London born  Johnnie Lockton played 32 first class cricket matches for Surrey between 1919 and 1926 as an all rounder. A right handed batsman, he had a highest score of 77 not out, his only half century, scoring 409 runs at an average of 16.36. With the ball bowling right arm fast-medium he took 78 wickets at an average of 26.55, with a best return of 5-80, and he also took 26 catches in first class play.

He also played football as an inside forward. An amateur footballer who played for Ilford in 1912 after graduating at London University, for whom he’d played in 1911, before joining Second Division Nottingham Forest in 1913, making his Football League debut at Barnsley in January 1914, scoring his first goal that March in a win over Birmingham, and going on to score 3 times in 22 appearances in the last two seasons before the suspension of peacetime football due to the onset of The First World War brought an end to his engagement at The City Ground. Lockton also served in the British Armed Forces during the War. After the War he joined The Casuals in 1919 and also played for Nunhead.
