Description

Kaffir River, Orange Free State born wicket-keeper and right-handed batsman Thomas Holmes had a lengthy cricket career, making his first class debut for Orange Free State in the 1906-07 season. He played provincial cricket both sides of the First World War, playing subsequently for Western Province, and in 47 first class matches through to 1929-30, he scored 1,871 runs at an average of 23.68, with a highest score of 97 among 1o half centuries in those games. He claimed 95 victims behind the stumps, 71 of whom were caught and 24 stumped.
